EFFECTIVE EDGE OUTLINE
John Doyle has experimented with various shapes and rails to evolve the short board trend to the new Effective
Edge board. This feature, on both the Misfit and SX Series, is the new revolution of longer,rounder tips for a more forgiving feel on the water. As shown in the diagram to the left, the Effective Edge is the section of the board rail
that is in contact with the power in the water. The Effective Edge of the 2004 Misfit 122 is the same as the 2005 Misfit 128.
Doyle has taken the effective edge from shorter boards and added length to the nose and tail. He then rounded out the
tips for more forgiveness and a surfy-feel. So the grip on the edge is maintained, and forgiveness is added. This allows
you to land smooth when landing hot, glide through chop, and keep the board from pearling.

John Doyle is a very balanced individual, and so are his boards. Doyle believes in the balance of fl ex and stiffness
for the desired response in his boards. Doyle changed his focus to board lay ups to achieve this custom level of
performance.
