- Multiple brands and product types are looking into the technology atm. (kite, bar, board, ski, snowboard, bags, wetsuits, tools....anything that can get lost and has value) In principle you dont even need the Booomtag platform and a brand can programm it themselves with any info they want but the vision would be that a person has one account where they have all their valuable items. Now maybe that is not valuable for all people but if you are a building company or ski rental it could be very usefull.
- You are correct, recognision of the NFC logo is not widely known yet but if the technology gets adopted more, it will. The logo is printed or in case of the Ventumbar cut in EVA on the device over the location where the tag is.
- Fair point, the owner of the product (not the platform) decides the action when they report their item as "lost". At this moment there is SMS and mail but the upgrade is, as we speak, to also show he phone number and a "call" button. (again, the owner decides what others see when their item is lost)
- Yes, if that works for you, all fine. As written in my previous post, there are multiple reasons its implemented. Another example, there are quite some people with a serious health issue where it could be helpfull if a tag can be scanned by others showing SOS buttons that directly call a familly member...again, the choice is to the owner of the items.
- If someone finds your board they can remove the sticker and sell the board/kite/bar. To remove the NFC tag they have to damage the gear before resale. It's no guarantee for sure but maybe increases the chance you retrieve your gear. As mentioned before, lost boards are not insured in The Netherlands, Booomtag is currently in nagociation with a sport insurrance to change that for gear which has the NFC tags but also here.... all worked on and not yet there.
